Cavemen Band

A loopbot bandstand show for The Lost World area of Gulliver's Kingdom. This show features automatons performing in conjunction to have an active musical bandstand with the press of a button.

Pre-Restoration

Before we did any work on the Cavemen Bandstand, the characters we're very faded, cracked, dirty and hardly moved even a slight bit.

We knew that we could improve this band and not only make the mechanics better but also improve the visuals and layout of this horrible experience.

Mechanical Restoration

As stated previously these characters mechanisms were very far gone, multiple burnt out motors and broken pieces.

We were able to rebuild and fix some motors and track down replacement motors for the ones which were too far gone, our team also replaced many key ball joints and our 3D artist designed new mechanical pieces to be 3D printed and replace any missing components and new additional movements

This has allowed the characters to have a new life and be far more energetic than they were pre-restoration.

Cosmetics

Cosmetics were very getting very worn, the clothing barely fit the characters and the solid parts were cracking and pale, these definitely needed a refresh and we had a fresh idea to make them look more appealing to park guests.

With Hair Added

After repainting each Caveman to have much more tone to their skin and have a much more friendly and appealing look to their faces, we then got to sowing and used various fabrics and patterning techniques to create new outfits in line with concept art we had created to fit our vision of the Bandstand.

Controller

Since we had a new idea for the show this Bandstand would perform, we had to build a new and more reliable control box which would last every day use. We utilised a Boobox 8 controller along side individual high quality relays and its own power supply to keep up with demand.

Theming

Concept.jpg

The original stage was very bare, we wanted to have something which stud out and not only fits in better with the surroundings but also grabs your attention and makes you want to activate the show. For this purpose we had our concept artist draw up a simple concept for what the new stage and show should look like, this gives us a clear path of what to do.

Along with retheming the inside of the stage, the outside has been left unattended for many years and was chipping away. We decided to give it a repaint and make it look good as new!

After-Repaint

After the outside was freshened up, it was time to begin the re-modelling of the inside, we used what was salvagable of the old theming to try to match our new idea nicely.
